My secret, not so secret obsession...

Here it goes... I AM ADDICTED TO PINTEREST!!!  There I said it, I own up to it, lol!  I have even woken up in the middle of the night, turned on the computer and checked if there were any new pins?!?!?!  I have the Pinterest toolbar button so I can pin anything, have 27 boards and over 700 pins and I am not done!  Don't know what Pinterest is?!?!  Then you are missing out my friend.  It is a site that you can "pin" links to different "boards" but not only that, the best part is you can repin what other people find!!!!

My favorite is finding all these great ideas for the kiddos and parties.  I've done about a dozen or so of them already.  The other thing I like is finding all these great recipes online and I am able to pin them to my boards.  Very easy to find something quick and since I am a visual person, I love seeing how the food is intended to look (not how I really made it, lol)

My Random Dozen

1. What was the last thing about which you procrastinated?

Doing my progress noted on my patients today.  I just started them around 10 pm and needed to take a break, lol.

2. How long does it take you to fall asleep, and do you sleep through the night?

Maybe 5-10 min, Sometimes I have just force myself to quited my brain, esp when thinking of what I have to do the next day.

3. Which decade would you choose to exemplify your favorite fashion styles?

I actually like the 50s when moms work skirts and aprons, dads never when out without a hat and the poodle skirts were so cute!

4. What is your personal best dish to feed a crowd?

Potato skins... they're better than a restaraunt, cheap and easy to make a lot!  Big hit with pur Bible studdy group

5. Are you an impulse shopper? What was the last thing you bought on impulse?

Scrapbooking supplies.  I even stopped today between pt's homes for a quick run through the local craft store.  I got stamp cleaning tool, stamp set, ink, paper. 

6. What is one wish you have for your own funeral?

My favorite music playing.  I can only imagine would be a great song.  I'd also like all my scrapbooks there.

7. If it's true that joy is in found in the simple things in life, what does your joy look like today?

My hubby making me a great steak dinner and cleaning the kitchen afterwards :)

8. What is your favorite type of bread?

Homemade frash, piping hot bread, with rich butter.  It has been more than 10 years since I had some.

Actually the whole house.

I've learned to say no. I use to be a yes man and wore myself out. My main help mis my husband though.  He is with me 100% of the way.  We both work inside and outside the home fulltime.

1. Have you ever been so lost that you were really afraid?
No but I "lost" Jessica once.  Short story was she was sleeping under my hubby's side of the bed all curled up.   I just about died when I couldn't find her.

2. Have you ever been to an island?
Once, Puerto Rico.  I took my mom on a cruise for her 40th birthday.
3. Are you more of a thinker or feeler?  I"m a feeling thinker, lol.

4. Do you tend to see issues or situations in life as black and white or shades of gray?  The bible is black and white, but then you read the red letters.  We are human with emotions, made in the image of God.  God gave use these emotions, and he also gave us the law to help us manage and use these emotions. So sometimes there is a little gray thrown around but the Holy Spirit will always guide and direct.

5. If you were stuck on an island, what book would you hope to have with you (Let's pretend the Bible is already there, so you can't say that.)   My sudoku puzzle book or any scrapbooking magazine, lol.

6. What are you most afraid of? Snakes

7. Would you rather lose all of your old memories or never be able to make new ones? WOW, talk about a question!!!   I think I would rather lose the old memories.  You can't live in the past and tomorrow always brings a new adventure and a chance for more memories.

8. Pretend I'm looking at a scrapbook page about you. There are three spaces for you to drop in individual pictures. What are those pictures of, and why did you select them? My wedding picture of course.  My 3 kiddos of course.  A picture of me and my Daddy, I miss him so much.  He passed away 5 yrs ago.  I am my daddy's girl.

9. If you were re-doing your wedding, what would you do differently? I would mingle table to table to say hello and would change the flowers on my cake and their color.

10. Tell me one thing you know/believe about forgiveness.  
I have two: We need to forgive because we were forgiven. 
Forgiveness frees us.

11. You're waiting in a doctor's office. What is your favorite way to pass that time?  My sudoku book,  :)

12. If there were a clone of you in a parallel universe what is one way you hope she/he would be the same as you and one way you hope she/he would be better?
I hope she has a wonderful family.  I hope she is thinner too, lol.

Things I've learned from my kids

1. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes. 

2. A 3-year-old is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant. 

3. If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

4. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42-pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a superman cape. It is strong enough, however, to spread paint on all four walls of a large room.

5. When using the ceiling fan as a baseball bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way. 

6. The glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh," it's already too late. 

8. Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9. A six-year-old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year-old man says they can only do it in the movies. A magnifying glass can start a fire even on an overcast day.

10. Certain Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a six-year-old. "pennies do too"

11. "Play-Doh" and "microwave" should never be used in the same sentence.

12. Super glue is forever. 

13. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.   Vacuum cleaners too!

15. VCRs do not eject PB&J sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do. 

16. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. foot house 4 inches deep.

17. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise in a moving car.

18. You probably do not want to know what that odor is. 
19. Always look in the oven before you turn it on. Plastic toys do not like ovens. 

20. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy. It will, however, make cats dizzy.

21. Cats spit up twice their body weight when dizzy. 
22. when you mix cherry, black cherry, grape, & lemonade kool-aid packet powder on the table with your hands they turn midnight red and doesn't come off.... But the little hands are sweet after the sugar is added to the table.

23. frogs in pockets do NOT survive the spin cycle.

24. 4yr olds really can climb just as high as older siblings .... only they hit every branch on the way down and believe it or not - they do BOUNCE when they hit bottom! (only to get up MAD and try it all over again!!!)
 In my case it's a 2 yr old daredevil

27. one roll of duct tape will hold a 3 year old onto a wall & entertain a him and old brother for hours

33. crayons do not need to be washed and it is a bad idea to put them in the laundry because they will ruin ALL the clothes in that batch

34. that a whole brand new tube of toothpaste makes great finger paint all over the bathroom and your 3yr old...and is a sticky mess to clean up

35. DON'T LEAVE THE PEANUTBUTTER
JAR OPEN ON THE COUNTER..... WHY? BECAUSE PEANUTBUTTER DOES NOT MAKE A VERY GOOD SHAMPOO!

Wednesday's Journal

What’s happening in my home?….

In my kitchen…Mother Hubbard's cupboards are bare, lol. Finances were slim the last two week thanks to me. I did not stop completely at a stop sign but "rolled" through according to a cop. I don't agree but it cost me $120.00 :( So my food budget was slashed. No extra for us, but we did have some good dinners thanks to Aldi's! Lasagna, Chicken Parm, Meatloaf, Shrimp Scampi Pasta, Tuna Noodle Casserole. I do miss going the luxury to go out to eat :) My favorite restaurant Quaker Steak and Lube, AppleBee's, Marino's (local Italian place). Thank goodness payday is Friday and believe me I AM NOT "rolling" through stop signs any time soon.

With our marriage… So grateful that Chris is understanding and that it was funny that I got my first ticket and it wasn't for speeding.

With the children… do you want to babysit for me???? I have three, you can watch for a couple hours. That's the kind of week it's been.

Around the homestead… I am getting a dining room set!!! I found a Queen Anne style on Craigslist.com for $300.00. Table w/ leaf, 4 chairs, 2 captain chairs and china cupboard!!! We pick it up tomorrow!

In my “Inner Man”…. still reading the One Year Bible but I have to admit, I'm reading 2-3 days a time :( My "outer" man seems like she is being torn in 20 different directions.

The Home Keeper's Journal

What’s happening in my home?….

In my kitchen… stuffed pork chops w/ stuffing and mashed potatoes, shrimp Alfredo and penne, baked chicken and cheesy potatoes, pizza night Friday and out to eat Saturday!... all suggestions from hubby and him working right along in the kitchen with me.

With our marriage… We both work full-time, we both do housework, we both cook, we both take care of the kids, he mows/I weed... we are truly a 50/50 couple and it works for us. Our five year anniversary is on the 29th. We have been blessed with five "wonderful" years. Trials were few but God was with us for each and every one of them, big and small.

With the children… we're in... potty training mode with our middle child, I can throw a temper tantrum mode with our youngest (little does she know) and "Mama, I'm going to big school this year" (kindergarten) with our oldest (tears for Mama with this one).

Around the homestead… winter advisory here, snow, snow, snow!!! The last of the Christmas decorations are coming down this week but I think the outside lights will be up for a while. There nooo way hubby is getting up on that roof anytime soon!

In my “Inner Man”…. I am reading the Bible in One Year and journal the scriptures and my thought daily. I'm very excited to do this!

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,

I needed a giggle today and here are some of the cute kiddie funnies (thanks you my friend, Heather)...

Six-year old Angie, and her four-year old brother, Joel, were sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang and talked out loud. Finally, his big sister had had enough. "You're not supposed to talk out loud in church." "Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, "See those two men standing by the door? They're hushers."

One Sunday in a Midwest City , a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. ....Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little boy called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"

(out of the mouths of babes)The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel mike, and as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went. Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord and nearly tripping before jerking it again. After several circles and jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother and whispered, "If he gets loose, will he hurt us?" LOL

1. When you were in school, did you study hard or cram the night before?
I was a crammer. I did just enough to get through, lol.

2. What can pull you out of a really funky mood?
Talking with my BFF but we live so far apart. (((sigh))) I could really use a good talk now.

3. Do you keep the invoice after you've paid the bill?
Nope, I give them to hubby. He takes care of all that... I'm lucky like that.

4. Do you have yard sales? Shop at them?
Love, love, love em!!!! I have them sometimes but mostly go to them. Hubby likes to drive by real fast while I drool out of the window.

5. When was the last time you rode a rollercoaster?
Before the kiddos when I could fit in the seat. BUT... I am so going on one this summer!

6. Spring cleaning...do you do such things as wash your windows?
Yep and hate every minute of it.

7. How often do you clean out your refrigerator?
Not enough... saying no more ;)

8. Have you ever been a victim of identity theft?
No... thank God!!!!

Yep, I am on the Susan Boyle band-wagon!!! I finally had the chance to see her clip on Britain's Got Talent... check it out!!! Absolutely AMAZING!!!!! That is my favorite song from Les Miserable and she NAILED it!!!!

One thing I caught Amanda say was they were all cynical but I would a very judgemental also. Just goes to show you... "You can't judge a book by it's cover." Susan just proved that one.

What you see on the outside, doesn't necessarily mean that's what you get on the inside.

Getting to know each other at Golden Goodness:

1. What's one of the best things you've seen lately?
THE PASSION!!!!!! The play our church puts on every year. We had a compacity crowd on opening night!!! During alter call, 100 people came forward to accept Jesus as Savior. We have two performances today!!!

2. Has Spring brought you something you don't like?
A cold :( of all the times, when I need every bit of energy, I'm dragging :(

3. What kind of sandwiches do you like?
fat free ham/cheese on wheat bread (5 points)

4. Do you carry GermX with you at all times?
I'm gonna start, lol.

5. Does each person in your house have their own hamper or do you have a central hamper for everyone?
one for the whole family...actually 3/4 for the whole family

6. How often do you balance your checkbook?
I don't touch the checkbook, hubby does it all. I use my debit card and give him the receipts... I'm spoiled like that :)

7. What's the hardest thing you've done lately?
Went to work last two days, sick as a dog (where did that saying come from...hmmm?)

8. Are you a texter?
Nope, can't stand to text.
