Donut Worry Be Happy (and keep on craftin')

I am back!!!! Woohoo!!! I took a little break... ok a BIG break, like a 20 month break , lol.  But I am excited to start creating again. I love seeing out our crafting community has evolved and in some ways stayed just the same... comfortable like my favorite pair of jammies.

I would love if you stop on by at the SCRAPBOOK BLESSINGS CLUB Facebook Group.  We are growing daily, and I am excited to start a couple sponsor challenges again along with all the crafty inspiration goodness that our members bring to the group.

So here are a couple of card projects that I have been working on recently as I get back into the groove of things.  This cute donut stamp came from a fellow crafter for my b-day. I guess I can blame it on Tasha from Crafty Pink Pixie for coming back!!!

Here is the cute stamp set I used. Thanks Tasha!

I hope you enjoyed today's project. I would love if you were a follower. Let me know so I can follow back. Thanks for stopping by, Sandy

HOPE ANCHORS

We have this HOPE, a sure and steadfast ANCHOR of the SOUL, a HOPE that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus, our forerunner has entered on our behalf, having become a high priest.
Hebrews 6:19-20

As a Christian, hope is not about wishing for something or waiting for it to happen, but it is an expectation, a blessed assurance that we can have in the Lord, especially in times of trouble and uncertainty. It is knowing that He is with us all the time and everywhere we go, He hears our prayers, and He comforts and heals our bodies, hearts, and souls. Hope leads to patience, courage, peace and joy. It makes us stable and along with love and faith, it will always last.

In life, without hope there is no meaning, without hope there is fear and anxiety, without hope there is death. For me, hopelessness is like being thrown in an ocean, tossed too and fro, gasping for breath, waiting for that moment of not if but when, I will succumb to the waves. Life and this world has a way of just knocking us down and out.

Hebrews 6:19-20 is a verse that steadies me. This hope is one that I can place in the Lord. It is hope in His word. In times of anxiety, trouble, and doubt, I can place my hope in God's promises. This hope will anchor me when the waves hit from all directions. This hope tethers me to Him. This hope is through Jesus, the one who goes into the Holy of Holies on my behalf. Yes, Jesus goes on our behalf behind the veil! How awesome is that?!?!

For todays Bible Art Journal, I wanted to focus on Heb. 6:19...

This is my third page, and I did if freehand. You know God is in this because it should look like a hot mess! Its not perfect, but I'm not perfect.  God was talking to me while I drew this. He reminded me that "I am putting my hope in a perfect God". Talk about anchoring me down... instant calm!

JOURNAL STEPS:
  1. 1. Grab a pencil and start drawing. Now, I am not an artist so I used a Google to search for anchor images. When I familarize myself of what an anchor looks like, I started drawing. Its okay, its only pencil, just have an eraser handy or in my case a BIG eraser.
  2. Using Prismacolor Pencils, start roughly filling in the picture with the colors you want.
  3. Start shading and deepening the color to try to get some dimension. This is a work in progress for me, but I will keep trying for shading with pencils.
  4. Using Faber Castell Gelatos, start filling in the background. Start light with the color and bend, keep going darker until you get the color you want.
  5. Finish it off with Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen.  I was trying to go for some shadowing with this too.
***I forgot to charge my camera, so I will post the video in the next couple of days.

I pray that you have a wonderful week, full of peace, courage and hope!

Thank you for stopping by and God Bless,

BE BRAVE

How many times have we told out kids, "be brave, you can do this...", etc?  I know I have said this and have had my parents tell me this too. But why? Because when we are brave, we can go on. It is that simple. When we are brave, we are effective. But let's take it a step further.

When God tells us to be brave, what is He really telling us? He is telling us to have the courage to face difficulty, pain, danger without fear. Why? Because He promises us that He will be with us. We don't to face situations in life without Him.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

There is a wonderful blog post that I encourage you to hop over and read. Sister Liz did a wonderful break down of Joshua 1:9. I pray that it ministers you as much as it did me. Just click on this link:

God wants us to get this into our head. He tells us again in Deuteronomy.
And the Lord commissioned Joshua the son of Nun and said, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall bring the people of Israel into the land that I swore to give them.
I will be with you.” Deuteronomy 31:25

So here is my Bible Art Journal for this scripture.  The inspiration comes from a Facebook Group that I am a part of, Bible Art Journaling Challenge. Rebekah Jones has a blog also where she did a different Art Journaling Tech every week in 2015. For more info, click on this link: http://www.rebekahrjones.com/bible-art-journaling-challenge/

  1. Using clear letter stamps, I traced around each of the letters.
  2. Then cut out each letter to make a mask for the page
  3. Add a little washi tape to the back of each cut out letter and place on page where you want your letters to go
  4. Using Distress Ink, start to blend with blending tool the colors on the page and over the masked letters. When you pull the letters off, you will see the white area inside the color ink
  5. After you are done inking up your page, you will go back and stamp each letter into the white background left behind
  6. Trace each letter with your black journal pen. Also using white acrylic paint, add splatters on your page to finish it off

Washi Tape Pages

So after looking at pictures in the couple of Facebook Journaling groups I am in, I decided I wanted to use Washi Tape on my Bible chapter pages. Here are a couple of photos of what I did.

I grabbed all the Washi Tape I could find in my drawers. Then on the first page of every chapter, I adhered the tape to the end, and I wrapped it to the other side. There was a quarter inch space, so I decided to use the Distress Markers and do some wording to fill in that space.

Then, I punched out a couple of scallop circles that I folded in half to make page tabs. I wanted to be able to find all the journal pages quickly so I think this is a fun way to keep track of them.

Lastly, I used my Distress Markers and free handed a couple of flowers and the name of my "journey".  Overall, I think it came out fun and colorful.

HE KNOWS MY NAME- CHOSEN

Hi everyone. I you had a blessed week.  This is my second Bible Art Journal entry. And, I am very excited on how it turned out!

Last Sunday, our pastor introduced a year long series that he will be doing one a month, "He knows my name".  I mean talk about confirmation from God on what He has been sharing with me. If this is your first time here, check out the previous posts. I tell you about the song God has placed in heart for this year and you will totally get what I mean.

So here is the final design...

  1. I started with an adult coloring book that I purchased (here is the video that I did to review it)
  2. The pages are perforated so I was able to tear out the image that I wanted which was a flower.
  3. I placed the paper underneath the Bible page and started to trace the flower as best as I could.I added a piece of Washi tape to help hold the paper down.
  4. I then free- hand the word CHOSEN on a blank page of copy paper. I had to make it dark enough to be able to see the word.
  5. I free-handed some scroll work in pencil to make a border around the word and image.
  6. Using Prismacolor pencils, I had fun coloring in the word and image.
  7. Using the Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen, I traced everything again but this time in black. I like this pen, it didn't bleed through except little dots where I did the small letters but not even that noticable.
  8. Grab the Gelatos!!!! I love these things! I scribbled a little blue for shadowing and then taking my finger, the blended it out. It came out so nicely!
  9. Lastly, I used Wink of Stella in clear glitter on the word and flower. It came out so pretty. Unfortunately my camera flash kept picking up the shimmer.
  10. At the end I decided to use my pencil in blue and highlight the scripture.

CHOSEN
John 15: 16, 19
v16 You did not choose me, but I chose you...  v19  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
This gives be comfort and a place of belonging. It is kind of like when we were kids and always afraid that we wouldn't be picked for a team or (((gasp))) picked last. With God there is no anxiety. If we decide to "play", He will always chose us for His team. We are chosen to be in His family, in His kingdom, for His purpose... WE BELONG!  No matter what we do, if we look to Him, He will call us Chosen!

This is the audio message that Pastor Jonathan Moore ( of Youngstown, Ohio's Grace Family Church) did Jan 3, 2016.  I promise, you will be blessed.

MY FIRST BIBLE ART PAGE

A PURE HEART

Welcome again to my new journey which includes this new blog, A Pure Heart of Worship. In my first post I explain how I came up with the blog name and what the new year and God has birthed in my heart. This is going to be my year of Him and me together along with using talents like crafting just another way I can get to know Him more and worship Him. Click on "The Journey" if you would like to check it out.

For my first entry, I wanted it to explain what the purpose of even starting the journey is. This is not just a hobby like scrapbooking and cardmaking is. No, this is a life change. It is the desire I have to be closer to God. One way that I can do this is through Art Worship.

So let's get started and remember, this is my first time ever so I am learning as I go. Hopefully what I learn will inspire you.

So let's get started and remember, this is my first time ever so I am learning as I go. Hopefully what I learn will inspire you as I share these techniques.

  1. I used Faber Castell Gesso and covered my whole page. This is a white medium so there is only a faint marking of the words. If you want to be able to see words, you will need clear gesso. DO NOT use mod podge, it will make your papers stick together.
  2. Using a pencil, I free hand the heart. I didn't want a perfect heart so I was very flowy. This is the best part, you can do whatever you like.
  3. Using a Zig Black Calligraphy pen, I wrote out the lines of the song that God has put in my heart recently. He Knows My Name. (If you want to know more or hear the song, check out this post)
  4. Then erase the pencil line. I did notice that it lighten the ink but I like how it looks.
  5. Now take a deep breath. You are going to be playing with water in your Bible!!!  First, using a Prismacolor watercolor pencil, I lightly filled in the heart. Then with light water on your brush, start to blend. I would blend a little and then hit with the heat gun. I did this 3-4 times before I got the color I wanted.
  6. Using Faber Castel Gelato, I created the background. I colored some on the paper, then using a wet finger, I started blending. Use the heat gun and then start again with a different color.
  7. I have some glitter border sticker strips in my old craft stash. Using those, I made the border.
  8. I ended taking #8 off, it was just me using a ruler to line up the sticker strips. No biggie and I will probably just eye ball it next time.
  9. Using a Tim Holtz Distress Marker, I started my journaling. This was such a wonderful time with the Lord. A time of creativity, worship, prayer. This is the reason I am on the journey.
  10. Of course I had to write my verse of the year, even though I don't like my handwriting!
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Ps 51:10.

Lastly, I have a YouTube Channel where I have a lot of my card and technique tutorials. So of course I had to make a video of my first page. If you like, you can click over to there and check it out. I talk a little more on how I made this page.

    HE KNOWS MY NAME

Do you have a life song?

No, yes? What's a life song? It is a song that God uses to touch your heart. You know without a shadow of a doubt that song was written just for you and you along. Now I know that is far fetched, but that is what it feel like.  Now, this song can change weekly, monthly, during mountain top times and when you are in the valley.

My life song right now at this very moment was a song written many, many years ago, and one that I have song in church for all those years. BUT, it is now mine. The Holy Spirit decided to get a hold of me this past Sunday, so I am claiming its promises today...

    "He Knows My Name"

So after prayer and time with the Lord in the Word, I thought it only fitting for it to be my first page in my new art journal Bible. So now I have my first idea for my ART BIBLE. Where do I go from here?

Well, I found two great Facebook Groups that I have just joined for inspiration and fellowship.
( even thought I am a lurker right now but I promise I will post something soon, shhhhh )

    and

I also have been watching some You Tube videos. There are three channels that I have found very interesting and helpful so far. Here are the links:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU_D3TYNX-0

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUrUxwdIOH0

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbFAeUTWKek

So now I have to get started. I will post some videos of the process. "Talk" to ya later!
